TailGate Beer to offer three new canned beers
Peanut Butter Milk Stout, Grapefruit IPA & Watermelon Wheat available this spring
April 12, 2016 – TailGate Beer, a Nashville-based craft brewery and taproom, will offer three new canned varieties this spring, announces Wesley Keegan, owner.
Peanut Butter Milk Stout (5.8% ABV 42 IBU), Grapefruit IPA (6.2% ABV 84 IBU), and Watermelon Wheat (4.9% ABV 20 IBU), will be available in six packs of cans this spring, hitting shelves as soon as late April. Small and large retailers, such as Mapco, Walmart and Kroger locations statewide, will carry the cans. Local shops such as The Beer Pale, Publicity, Hops and Crafts, Craft Brewed, Turnip Truck, Frugal MacDoogal and both Filling Stations also will carry the cans in addition to rotating drafts from TailGate.
All three varieties are currently available on draft in the taproom and at craft beer locations and restaurants in Nashville.
“These are three of TailGate’s best and most popular beers,” said Keegan. “I’m excited to make these craft beers available in cans through our locations statewide, so our customers can enjoy them any time they’d like.”
Earlier this year, Keegan announced plans to expand TailGate’s Nashville headquarters, which will bring an additional 10,000-square-feet to the building. The expansion allows for a largescale production brewery capable of producing 60,000 barrels of TailGate beer annually. TailGate currently brews canned craft beer in a partner facility out of Wisconsin; all production will be moved to Nashville upon the project’s completion in mid-2016.
Moving production to Nashville will allow for continued focus on quality control of the product, including volume, consistency, and opportunity to brew and can more varieties. Currently, the canned craft beers distributed statewide in Walmart, Kroger, and Mapco locations include Blacktop Blonde and Sorta IPA. TailGate Beer’s taproom hours are Monday – Thursday, 3-10 p.m., Friday, 3-11 p.m., Saturday, 12-11 p.m., and Sunday, 12p.m. to 9 p.m. TailGate Beer is a renovated 16,000 square foot facility on 7.5 acres, located at 7300 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. The facility is all-ages, serves a full gourmet pizza menu, and hosts an array of special events for guests, including brewery tours every Saturday and Sunday. Tours last 45 minutes, cost $5 and include a guided tasting and free growler glass.
TailGate Beer focuses on small batch, limited release craft beer. Releasing 2 new experimental and seasonally appropriate beers every week, the taproom boasts up to 30 different brewed-on-site beers, as well as rotating handles from other local and regional breweries. Distributed only in Tennessee, the brewery also cans year round releases for distribution across Tennessee in small and large retailers – like Mapco, Walmart and Kroger. TailGate Beer was founded in 2007 in San Diego, CA and relocated to Nashville in 2014 as its international headquarters.
