Explore Robotics, Programming with the Experts
Adventure Science Center to celebrate National Robotics Week with special activities, demonstrations on Saturday, April 15
Nashville, Tenn., April 4, 2017—From the mechanisms that give them power to the coding that gives them purpose, robots are the center of attention at Adventure Science Center’s Robotics Day on Saturday, April 15.
Guests can explore the wonderful world of robotics with exciting hands-on activities and demonstrations that focus on the basics of these machines and how to program them, and by meeting some local robot expert-enthusiasts from the Middle Tennessee Robotic Arts Society (MTRAS).
Special Activities, included with general admission (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.):
- LITTLE ROBOT DETECTIVES
What makes a robot… a robot? Come explore what IS and what ISN’T a robot with this fun activity designed for the little ones.
- MINDSTORMS CHALLENGE
Use a LEGO® Mindstorms robot to complete some simple tasks while learning about programming, calculations and the engineering process.
- SPORE CREATURE CREATOR
Create your own creature to meet certain requirements using the program SPORE. Are you up to the challenge?
In addition to the activities, MTRAS will be showcasing their robots in a Quick Trip competition, where a robot must get from point A to point B and back in the quickest time, and Line Following competition, where autonomous robots must successfully follow a black line through a course that features challenging curves and line breaks.
Torque Force, a high school robotics team that includes members of Adventure Science Center’s Youth CR3W, will also be putting their brilliant robots on display in a FIRST Tech Challenge, where they compete in a head-to-head challenge working together.
Special activities subject to change.
