Husband and wife cocktail team PourTaste will release the world’s first magnolia bitters since the 19th century.
Nashville, TN - Jon and Lindsay Yeager of PourTaste will release the first commercial magnolia bitters seen since the 19th century under their brand E Harlow on July 1st 2016. The bitters will be available at pourtaste.com while the team work on distribution. As full time consultants, the Yeagers introduced a first draft recipe in 2013 at Grays on Main in Franklin, TN. The DIY bitters, made in the Yeagers backyard, became a crowd and bartender favorite. The signature cocktail recipe which contained the magnolia bitters, The Anthym Spirit, was recognized by numerous national publications which led Garden and Gun to feature the draft bitters recipe on their website.
“We know a handful of enthusiasts have experimented with this flavor profile recently”, says Jon Yeager, “but the reaction to our experiment was so overwhelming we decided to roll our sleeves up and take it more seriously. We saw an opportunity to bring this almost forgotten ingredient to the cocktail sphere in a real way.”
Named after their daughter Emerson Harlow, Jon and Lindsay launched the E Harlow product line realizing certain needs in the craft cocktail world not being met. The flagship product was their Pristine Tonic. This historically relevant quinine concentrate was also a by-product of an experiment turned crowd favorite through the platform of Grays on Main. With the addition of their magnolia bitters release, the Yeagers aim to make E Harlow a true source of boutique and rare products.
PourTaste officially began in 2011 after Jon Yeager held one of the opening bartender positions at the Holland House Bar & Refuge in Nashville, TN. After a year of working at this highly acclaimed, speakeasy style cocktail bar, the Yeagers were asked to help design other menus throughout the city, train bartenders and provide a craft bar experience at various events. While designing their PourTaste iOS app, Lindsay Yeager, native to Vicksburg, MS, suggested the idea of magnolia bitters. Since 2011, PourTaste has grown to become the go-to epicenter for all things cocktail. In addition to their product line E Harlow, Jon and Lindsay Yeager have created cocktail, beer and wine menus for hotels, restaurants and bars while consulting for events, festivals, retail shops and brands.
