Noelle to Open in Downtown Nashville in Late 2017
Hotel designed to spotlight the city’s thriving creative community of makers, designers, thinkers
NASHVILLE, June 23, 2017 — Creativity is the driving force behind Noelle, a distinctive, community-focused hotel opening in downtown Nashville in late 2017.
Noelle is located at 200 Fourth Avenue North at the corner of Church Street, on the same block as historic Printer’s Alley. Conceived as a creative gathering place for adventurous visitors and locals seeking a true Nashville encounter, the 224-room hotel will occupy the former home of Noel Place, one of the city’s first luxury hotels, dating to 1930 — which, like today, was a time of explosive growth in the city’s downtown area.
Nashville’s Feltus Hawkins Design are the architects on the project, working closely with Dryden Architecture And Design (DAAD), who are leading oversight on architectural interiors and key architectural elements. Both companies are dedicated to preserving the history of the Art Deco-era structure, highlighting original architectural features such as the soft pink Tennessee marble walls, terrazzo floors, and handsome brass railings that mark the ground-floor common spaces.
Notably, DAAD’s involvement extends far beyond design. Dryden and his team have worked alongside Noelle’s parent company, Rockbridge, and Dallas-based hospitality firm MAKEREADY, to curate local creative partners in the areas of art, design, branding and communications, who were hired to contribute to the exceptional Nashville community experience that will extend to every corner of the hotel.
Bryce McCloud of Isle of Printing will provide signature art pieces for Noelle’s public spaces and guest rooms. He will also curate and recruit a roster of local visual artists whose work will be displayed on a rotating basis. The Printer’s Alley location has inspired some of Noelle’s more unique features, including Little Prints, an experiential art space and print shop on the ground floor to be managed by McCloud. A working printing press will be visible to diners enjoying the hotel’s ground-floor restaurant, Makeready Libations & Liberation.
Noelle’s layout and special features are designed to encourage guests to mingle. A rooftop lounge will be reserved for hotel guests and private events, while the lobby bar, called the Trade Room, will have multiple lounge vignettes where the local community and visitors can gather for drinks and conversation. Additional seating is accessible in the street-level coffee shop, Drug Store Coffee, which will be operated in collaboration with Andy Mumma of Barista Parlor.
Also on the ground floor: Keep Shop, a 1,200-square-foot retail store curated by Nashville-based creative consultant Libby Callaway, featuring exclusive and limited-edition selections from local fashion designers and makers. Benji Peck of Peck & Company is leading Noelle’s branding efforts, which include the creation of a handsome blue heron character whose image will recur in signage around the hotel.
Noelle is part of the new Tribute Portfolio collection of independent hotels. MAKEREADY will oversee management, operations, curation and partnerships.
