FESTIVAL TO RETURN TO PUBLIC SQUARE PARK
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 6, 2016) – Lightning 100 announced today the return of the Live On The Green Music Festival to Public Square Park in downtown Nashville. Now in its eighth year, Nashville’s favorite free music festival will take place Thursdays, August 11, 18 and 25, with the weekend finale planned for Labor Day weekend, September 1, 2 and 3. The 2016 artist lineup and schedule will be announced June 23, with VIP tickets and packages available the same day.
Since its inception in 2009, over 425,000 fans from 45 states and 13 countries have attended Live On The Green, making it one of Music City’s most-loved annual festivals. The festival credits much of its continued success to longstanding partnerships with the Nashville Mayor’s Office and the City of Nashville.
“I couldn’t be happier to be the mayor of a city where an incredible concert series takes place just outside my office," said Mayor Barry. "As it enters its eighth season, Live on the Green has become one of Nashville’s most popular and most musically exciting events. And it’s free! Thank you to Lightning 100 for bringing even more great music to Music City.”
Lightning 100, the producer of Live On The Green, has joined forces with the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp (NCVC) to present Live On The Green as a cornerstone event for the Labor Day holiday weekend in Nashville. Lightning 100 plans to maintain this new schedule for at least the next three years.
“We felt that a long-term commitment to a consistent schedule was a key step in the evolution of the event. It’s important for folks to be able to make their holiday plans in advance, especially in a booming market such as Nashville, where there are always plenty of things to do.” said Lester Turner, Owner of Lightning 100 and Executive Producer of Live On The Green. “Establishing a partnership with the NCVC creates new and exciting opportunities for us to promote and develop the festival.”
As the driving force behind Nashville’s heavily-attended 4th of July and New Year’s Eve celebrations, the NCVC is no stranger to large outdoor event productions.
“Live On The Green has all of the makings of a great Labor Day weekend event with three days of free outdoor music in a family-friendly environment and plenty of food, drink, and fun. We couldn’t think of a better way for Nashville to celebrate this holiday.” said Butch Spyridon, President and CEO of the NCVC. “We’re very excited to be a part of Live On The Green and believe it could have a significant impact on Labor Day weekend tourism here in Nashville.”
