Sudekum Planetarium summer lineup to include lasers, yoga, and 6.5 million stars
Adventure Science Center's planetarium to offer Saturday night laser shows and kaleidoscopic fulldome features and Saturday morning yoga from June 3 to August 26
Nashville, Tenn., June 1, 2017—Beginning Saturday, June 3, Adventure Science Center's Sudekum Planetarium will open its doors at 8 p.m. every Saturday night to offer out-of-this-world laser experiences. Their Summer Laser Shows feature spectacular laser visuals displayed across a 63-foot dome and choreographed to the music of artists like Katy Perry and Michael Jackson. The popular, retro charm of laser shows enhanced by the planetarium's cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art surround sound will provide guests with a perfect blend of graphics, music, and fun for teens and adults.
At 9:30 a.m. on the last Saturday of every month, yogis can experience an outward shift as stunning NASA visualizations and 6.5 million stars bring them to new heights of inner peace. Instructor Durden Napier will guide guests through a unique yoga experience supported by breathtaking imagery designed to inspire guests to ponder the scale of the universe and humanity’s place within it. Summer Laser Shows | June 3, 17, & 24 @ 8 p.m.
The schedule kicks off with Summer Laze – a compilation of favorite summertime tunes, like Fun Fun Fun by the Beach Boys and Firework by Katy Perry, Michael Jackson's hits, and Jukebox Heroes – featuring artists like David Bowie and ZZ Top. Second Saturday | June 10 @ 6:30 p.m.
Samskara, winner of the Best Short Film Award at Fiske Fulldome Film Festival 2015, combines art and sacred geometry to create an incredible kaleidoscope of imagery in this month's fulldome feature at 7:30 p.m. Tickets at www.adventuresci.org/saturday.
Weeknight Laser Shows | June 15 & 23 @ 8 p.m.
The Sudekum Planetarium is offering more opportunities outside of Saturday night to catch a laser show in the dome. Enjoy a "Throwback Thursday" or a "Flashback Friday" with Jukebox Heroes, That (mostly) 70s Laser Show, and Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. Tickets at www.adventuresci.org/lasers.
Yoga Under the Stars | June 24 @ 9 a.m.
In this unique practice, yogis can experience an outward shift as stunning NASA visualizations and 6.5 million stars bring new heights of inner peace with instructor Durden Napier.
