ISHA INSTITUTE INVITES VISITORS TO FREE YOGA DAY ONCE A MONTH: MAY 6, JUNE 17, JULY 22 AND AUGUST 26
With yoga, meditation, hiking and more, Isha’s stunning mountainous setting offers perfect escape from nearby Nashville
(McMinnville, TN, April 28, 2017)—The Isha Institute of Inner-sciences announces its summer series of Free Yoga Days, on Saturdays, May 6, June 17, July 22 and August 26. Designed as a family friendly event, participants ages 7 and up can choose from several simple yoga classes that range in time from 15 to 90 minutes. Participants will also learn how to continue the practice at home. Ideally situated in the scenic Upper Cumberland region—only a 90-minute drive from Nashville—Isha’s classical yoga and meditation center features a sprawling 1,400-acre wooded campus with several waterfalls, stunning bluff vistas and more. Visitors for Free Yoga Day may register in advance at www.FreeYogaDay.us or upon arrival.
“Free Yoga Day lets visitors try out yoga and other offerings in a relaxing and friendly environment,” says Jordan Funk, community outreach coordinator. “We welcome visitors to visit for an hour or all day. Our hope is visitors will leave empowered with tools for well-being that they can continue at home.”
Sessions are offered throughout the day, allowing visitors to choose according to their interest or to learn something totally new. Upa yoga, is a system of physical practices and breathing techniques that boost energy and relieves stress, while keeping the joints healthy. Nada yoga, a meditative practice, utilizes sound and reverberation to provide balance and establish overall well-being.
Additional activities include a vegetarian cooking class, guided hikes to waterfalls and bluffs and relaxing in the park-like setting. Visitors can take in Isha’s two architecturally stunning structures: the Adi Yogi: Abode of Yoga, and the domed Mahima. The Abode—a visually striking 30,000 square foot space —houses a breathtaking 21-foot metal statue of the first yogi, Adi Yogi. Mahima is a 39,000 square foot free-spanning meditation hall—the largest of its kind in the western hemisphere. More than an impressive structure, Mahima is an energized space that allows hundreds to meditate or practice yoga under its domed roof.
Visitors may indulge in a flavorful vegetarian buffet for lunch or dinner at the open-air dining hall for $10/person. With a rotating globally diverse menu, dishes include Thai green curry, slowly simmered India lentils (dal) and flavorful pasta, all created with whole food ingredients from scratch. Visitors may browse The Isha Shoppe, which features yoga gear, books, handmade crafts and much more.
