PUCKETT’S AND SECOND HARVEST TEAM UP TO FIGHT HUNGER IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE
‘Funds 4 Food’ Project to Raise Money for Local Food Bank Throughout April
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Puckett’s Gro. & Restaurant in downtown Nashville has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to fight hunger throughout the state with a month-long fundraising campaign called ‘Funds 4 Food.’
From April 1 to April 30, Puckett’s diners will have the opportunity to add an extra dollar or more to their total, which will provide at least four meals to local families affected by hunger. In addition, Puckett’s 5th & Church, will match each donation up to $5,000. The restaurant’s goal is to provide approximately 40,000 meals to those in need through Second Harvest.
“We’re really excited to share the Funds 4 Food Project with the Nashville community this year,” said Rachel Layton, director of marketing for A. Marshall Family Foods Inc. “This town does a great job caring for the needy and we hope this will just be an extension of those efforts. We love Second Harvest Food Bank and are thrilled to have them as our partner in this brand new endeavor.”
According to Second Harvest Food Bank, one in seven people--including one in five children-- struggle with hunger in Middle Tennessee. Nearly 15 percent of local residents are unable to regularly access the food they need to be healthy.
“Most people don’t realize that so many in our area go hungry on a daily basis,” said Kyle Williams, senior manager at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. “We are blessed to be in a community where companies like Puckett’s help to shed light on the issue and are eager to help give back.”
Founded in 1978, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee works to solve hunger issues in Middle and West Tennessee. Second Harvest collects, sorts and distributes food and personal care products to more than 490 partner agencies throughout 46 counties. Their partner agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, foster care facilities, senior centers, group homes and youth enrichment programs.
Puckett’s Gro. & Restaurant, located at 5th Avenue & Church Street, is open Sunday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
