CHEEKWOOD BEGINS INSTALLATION OF ONE MILLION HOLIDAY LIGHTS
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cheekwood begins installation of one million lights in preparation for its annual Holiday LIGHTS. Installation is expected to take place from August through November as the botanical garden and museum transform into a winter wonderland. The popular wintertime program attracted more than 46,000 visitors to Cheekwood in 2015.
“Our team works diligently nearly year round to plan Holiday LIGHTS, and it is always an exciting day when the first light is strung,” said Patrick Larkin, senior vice president of gardens for Cheekwood. “This year, members and visitors can expect to see a bigger and better display of lights and a variety of added elements to make the holiday experience more special for guests of all ages.”
Cheekwood will introduce new additions to Holiday LIGHTS in 2016, while bringing back guest favorites from the previous year. New elements include:
- One million lights
- Santa Sundays featuring Santa experiences for kids
- Holiday art and garden workshops
- Group parties and events
Holiday LIGHTS visitors can expect to see some returning features as well, including:
- Cash bars with drinks and “Hot Toddies”
- Carolers in the Mansion
- Real reindeer every night
- S’Mores pits
- Pineapple room Restaurant open nightly
- GLOW goodies in the Gift Shop
Decorations for Holiday LIGHTS will extend from the mansion out into the gardens, setting the grounds aglow with elegant displays, dazzling views and one million festive, twinkling lights. Tickets to Holiday LIGHTS will go on sale October 14.
