‘AMERICAN ARTISTS AT HOME AND ABROAD’ EXHIBIT OPENS SATURDAY
Selections from the Cheekwood Permanent Collection on Exhibition Beginning June 18
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cheekwood will open its newest exhibition, American Artists at Home and Abroad, this Saturday, June 18. The exhibition presents items from the Cheekwood Permanent Collection and provides a contextual understanding of the development of American art during the 20th century.
“The exhibition depicts the importance of ‘place’ in the development of American art,” said Leslie Jones, Vice President of Museum Affairs for Cheekwood. “Visitors will experience a diverse group of artists and subject matter, proportionate to the holdings of the Cheekwood collection. The content of American Artists at Home and Abroad illustrates the widespread travels of these creative visionaries and how they chose to describe their surroundings through various styles and media.”
The exhibition features various artists from all over the country with assorted styles, including Impressionism and abstraction. The exhibition will also include art from two local Nashville artists, Red Grooms and A. C. Webb.
Artists featured in the American Artists at Home and Abroad exhibition include:
