Blackstone Brewing Company® Opens Taphouse
Blackstone Taphouse open seven days a week at Clifton Avenue Brewery
Nashville, TN – Blackstone Brewing Company® has opened The Taphouse, a new taproom located inside the brewery at 2312 Clifton Avenue in Nashville.
“After working toward this taproom for the past several years, we are thrilled to finally be able to welcome our friends and craft beer fans,” said Kent Taylor, owner of Blackstone Brewing Company. “This was a dream of Stephanie Weins, who was co-founder the Blackstone Restaurant & Brewery and the Blackstone Brewery Company which now includes the The Taphouse.”
“Stephanie died from cancer more than two years ago and I know she would have been extremely proud to see us finally open the doors at The Taphouse,” added Taylor. “Once we have settled in, we plan host a fundraiser for the nonprofit Stephanie’s Fight, which was established for cancer research.”
The Taphouse interior features many unique pieces that create the décor. Light fixtures were custom made in-house using brewing equipment with Edison bulbs. A grand bar was built using reclaimed floor joists from a warehouse that was built in the late 1800s on 2nd Ave. This bar is faced with local walnut wood that was milled from a tree that came down in a storm. The entrance wall was created by using reclaimed fence pickets. Portions of the room display oak wood staves that come from Belle Meade bourbon barrels which were used in the aging of Black Belle Imperial Stout. It is a unique setting that features floor to ceiling glass walls that display a view of the entire brewery brew house, tanks, and bottling line. There is a large outdoor space that features lawn chairs and a picnic tables. People can enjoy a view of the 130 fruit trees planted on 3 acre property. There is also a view of the Hop Yard which has 150 cascade hop bines. Also of interest on the property on the back side of the brewery are three bee hives, a small organic garden, and a composting area.
Sixteen draft selections are available Monday through Friday 4pm to 8pm, Saturday, 12pm to 8:00pm and Sunday, 12pm to 6:00pm. A limited menu of pub fare such as pork/beef sliders and chips are also available.
Blackstone celebrated a milestone earlier in May with the capping of its six millionth bottle of craft beer. Beer number six million is the St. Charles Porter®, winner of eight medals at the Great American Beer Festival and two World Cup Beer medals.
Blackstone Brewing Company® beer is distributed locally by Ajax Turner Co. and is available in bars and grocery stores throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee. The state-of-the-art brewing and bottling facility opened in mid-2011.
