The Arts Company presents Art, Astronomy, and Light: Clay Sculpture by Paul and Dorothy Craig. In this exhibit, the artworks are unique, hand-made ceramic and stoneware sculptures made by this artistic husband and wife duo. Because of Paul Craig’s extensive background in science, his pieces mix the art of clay with the science of Earth and Sky. Crafted stoneware, the pieces are also working scientific instruments: clocks, calendars, star charts, Sun trackers and space-scapes. Dorothy Craig's wheel thrown pottery is organic without reflecting one particular theme. Her collection of luminaries include, pieces using leaves, shells and other natural objects. In addition, many of her pieces are functional and aid in bread proofing, mixing, and battering. The work will be on view during the monthly First Saturday Art Crawl Downtown, July 5, 6-9PM; and will continue through August 8, during regular gallery hours, 11-5:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, at 215 5th Avenue of the Arts in downtown Nashville.
