Nashville International Airport First Airport in U.S. to Include Transportation Network Companies in Policy
NASHVILLE ─ The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) today announced the inclusion of Transportation Network Companies in its Commercial Ground Transportation Policy, allowing for ride-sharing services to operate at Nashville International Airport (BNA). BNA becomes the first airport in the U.S. to include Transportation Network Companies in its policy.
MNAA’s Commercial Ground Transportation Policy governs all ground transportation service providers operating at the airport. All peer-to-peer ride-sharing operators will be required to apply for a permit, pay user fees and be clearly identified in order to offer services on airport property. Passengers wanting to use the new ride-sharing services will be picked up in designated areas at the Commercial Ground Transportation level of the terminal across from Valet and should look for the designated overhead signage. “This is a major milestone to embrace ever-evolving technology and accommodate new app-based transportation service operators,” Rob Wigington, MNAA president and CEO, said. “We are continuously listening to the needs of our passengers, so that we can better provide and enhance the Nashville Airports Experience.”
“Nashville International has stepped forward as an industry leader by becoming the first U.S. airport to include Transportation Network Companies in its policies,” Bakari Brock, Lyft’s director of Business Development, said. “By recognizing Lyft's peer-to-peer model, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority has set the highest standard of public safety while preserving access to innovative transportation options for Nashville visitors and residents.”
