NASHVILLE DANCIN' PRESENTED BY DOLLAR GENERAL KEEPS IT LOCAL WITH FOOD AND MUSIC INSPIRED ART, SHOPPING, GREEN ACTIVITIES AND MORE
Nashville, Tenn. – June 11, 2013 – Nashville Dancin’ presented by Dollar General is gearing up for the eight-week concert series with local tastes, sights and sounds. Nashville will be dancin’ in the streets—literally, with an amazing lineup of food, art, green initiatives and more, in addition to FREE live music, which kicks off this Thursday, June 13 where Lower Broad meets the river.
FOOD TRUCK FRENZY WITH WANDERLAND URBAN FOOD PARK
Bringing a mobile fleet of food trucks to downtown will be Wanderland Urban Food Park, the hub of Nashville’s best of the best food trucks, a very stellar lineup.
The music lover can curb a wild hunger craving between shows by selecting a culinary delight from an array of Music City’s favorite food trucks. On the food truck lineup for this year and keeping it local with local ingredients and seasonings, festival goers can dine on a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich with nostalgic treats from The Grilled Cheeserie. Riffs Fine Street Food will impress locals, bringing eclectic Caribbean inspired dishes from around the world to the streets of Nashville, along with Deg Thai, blending both Asian and Thai inspired cuisine. Enjoy Yayo’s O.M.G, run by Chef Yayo Jiménez serving authentic Mexican cuisine and if you like homemade, Hoss’ Loaded Burgers makes gourmet stuffed-burgers with a variety of homemade sauces and flavorful herbs. Pazze Italiano will be serving up some of the best authentic and homemade Italian dishes that will make your mouth water and don’t forget to cool off with Jeni’s Ice Cream. For the traditional, Begley Brats & Dogs and Blazen Dogs will be additional food vendors and Bud Light will be serving ice cold brews beginning at 5 p.m. on site at Nashville Dancin’ presented by Dollar General.
CULTURE, ART, SHOPPING, GREEN INITIATIVES AND MORE!
Locals and tourists will have the opportunity to view the art of local painters Sheila B. and Ryan McCauley at this year’s concert event. Dubbed "Best Street Artist" in Nashville Scene's “Best of Nashville 2012,” Ryan McCauley, has already become a staple in Music City with his iconic robots. Be on the lookout for his renowned robots, even on custom designed Nashville Dancin’ T-shirts. Each week, fans will have the opportunity to purchase and wear T-shirts designed by both artists. Proceeds from T-shirt sales will go to participating charity organizations; Dollar General Literacy Foundation, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and PENCIL Foundation.
Have a craving to shop that just won’t stop? Fans can shop at music inspired mobile clothing store, The Trunk - Nashville’s First Fashion Truck, showcasing local designers like Project Runway’s Amanda Valentine and her new line VALENTINE VALENTINE. This trendy mobile clothing store was started by rock stylist Abby Franklin, who has styled music artists Bon Jovi, KISS, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince. Artist merchandise will also be available for purchase onsite at The Trunk, be sure and stop by. Twenty percent of proceeds from artist merchandise will be donated to the three participating charities.
For the eco-friendly heart, tour the “Green Village” area, which will showcase a variety of green products and services, sponsored by Green Village Recycling, who is providing event recycling services for each nightly concert. Exhibits within’ the “Green Village” area will be a self-powered vehicle, EV charging stations, recycled art and educational information about energy efficient lighting, wind power, solar panel installation and more.
“Green Village” also serves as the command center for maintaining onsite recycling services and promotes positive results of recycling efforts.
“We welcome everyone to stop by ‘Green Village’ and see how we can all live well and leave no trace,” said Jason DiStefano, Green Village Recycling.
Military Special Operations Veterans will be present at the event, as Nashville Dancin’ security will be provided by Atlas Hills. Atlast Hills is a highly-respected security and training company founded by veterans of the Military’s Special Operations Command, law enforcement professionals and first-responders.
Nashville Dancin’ presented by Dollar General has an exciting lineup of music, food, art, shopping and activities. The concert series will run every Thursday between June 13 and August 1 at 5 p.m. at Nashville’s Riverfront Park. Note that August 1 is a special show, Bud Light 50-50-1 presents-Colt Ford-21+.
