NANM IS HEADING TO NASHVILLE
Still We Rise: A Celebration of African-American Women in Classical Music A GALA CONCERT
Atlanta, GA – June 15, 2013 - The National Association of Negro Musicians (NANM), the country’s oldest African-American professional music association will hold its Annual Gala Concert in Nashville, TN on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 7:00pm. This will be the first time that NANM has been in Nashville since 1921.
The Concert, the first of its type in Nashville in decades, will feature Metropolitan Opera Council Finalists Michelle Johnson and Laquita Mitchell, as well as internationally renowned concert pianist, Sakura Myers. Ms. Johnson and Ms. Mitchell will be accompanied on the piano by Dr. Rosalyn Floyd. The program will feature everything from well-known opera arias to African-American spirituals and arts songs.
The Gala Concert will be held at the prestigious Christ Church Cathedral. 900 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203. Tickets are on sale now for $30 General Admission and $15 for students via the organization’s website, by phone, or at the door.
