CONVENTION CENTER AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES MARCH NUMBERS
Economic impact for fiscal year 2014 over $125 million
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Convention Center Authority announced this morning that the Music City Center has generated over $125 million in economic impact so far for fiscal year 2014.
The Music City Center has hosted 262 events with 302,803 attendees since July. These events generated 115,448 room nights for a total of $125.3 million in economic impact. In March alone, the MCC hosted 20 events with 63,901 in attendance, generating 39,353 in total room nights and $47.8 million in economic impact, making March the largest month for economic impact since the center opened in May 2013. Tax collections continue to outperform projections and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 10.16 percent year over year for January 2014.
“March was a great month for us with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, American Trucking Association and a number of other large groups,” said Charles Starks, President/CEO of the Music City Center. “Our customers have been very happy with their attendance numbers and every group here during the third quarter of fiscal year 2014 has set record attendance.”
The Convention Center Authority also approved the budget for fiscal year 2015 and announced their recent LEED Gold and REAL Certifications. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system is a globally recognized symbol of excellence in green buildings and identifies Music City Center as a showcase example of sustainable design. The REAL (Responsible Epicurean and Agricultural Leadership) certification program is a nationwide program run by the U.S. Healthful Food Council that helps combat diet-related disease by recognizing foodservice operators committed to holistic nutrition and environmental stewardship. The Music City Center is the nation’s first convention center to receive REAL certification.
