Take a holiday carriage ride and support the Hillsboro-West End neighborhood
Nashville, TN — October 26, 2015 — The Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood Association (HWEN) has announced their fourth annual Holiday Lights Carriage Tours on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 7 in the heart of this historic neighborhood. The event will feature horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping through the district known for gracious vintage homes and stunning displays of holiday lights.
Gentle, well trained horses, professional drivers and comfortable carriages will be provided by Sugar Creek Carriages, the same established company that offers carriage rides in downtown Nashville.
New this year – a more personal carriage added on the streets during the Carriage Tours. It’s the sporty Regal Ride, which holds up to six people and offers a broader view and is perfect for small groups.
The thirty-minute tours begin and end at the First Seventh Day Adventist Church, at the corner of Natchez Trace and Blair Blvd. Also new this year, the Fannie Battle Carolers will lend their voices to the Carriage Tours both nights. They will bring songbooks and visitors can sing along as the neighborhood gathers at the church to wait the carriages come and go.
INDIVIDUAL TICKETS: are $22.50. Children under 2 may ride on a parent's lap for free. Deadline for purchase is December 3.
GROUP TICKETS: are $20 per person for groups of 10 people or more. Group ticket sales are final. Deadline for purchase is November 15. All tickets must be purchased as a group. For additional tickets at the $20 group price, you must buy a minimum of 10 tickets. For group rate tickets contact Tom Cash at TCash101@aol.com
REGAL RIDE: The 30-minute ride is $150. Your exclusive carriage holds up to six average-size people and includes a framed color photograph of your group and the carriage. You will receive it by mail within 10 days. You will also receive an email of the photo. When you schedule a Regal Ride, we will contact you for guidance and to answer any questions.
Tickets can be purchased at www.hwen.org.
The hospitality center where the tours begin, will be located at the Nashville First Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 2800 Blair Blvd. Parking is free. Saturday tours begin at 5 p.m. and the last tour starts at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday, the tours begin at 4:30p.m. and the last tour leaves at 8 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather, but extra blankets will be available, too. If weather conditions make roads unsafe for passengers or the horses, we will cancel the event and contact ticket holders as soon as possible. A light rain or snow will not automatically cancel the tours, all the carriages have a roof.
The Holiday Lights Carriage Tours are presented by the Hillsboro West End Neighborhood Association. Proceeds are invested back into the neighborhood to support the Dragon Parade, Dragon Music Sunday concerts, drinking fountains and other amenities in Fannie Mae Dees Park, and many other projects that build and maintain the unique residential and historic character of the neighborhood. Currently, the neighborhood is working with other community groups to restore the mosaic Dragon in the park that children have enjoyed for decades.
