CHEEKWOOD TO HOST BOOK SIGNING WITH BRUCE MUNRO SEPTEMBER 25
NASHVILLE, TN. – British installation artist Bruce Munro, creator of the acclaimed LIGHT exhibit currently on display at Cheekwood, will be on hand at the botanical garden and Museum of Art Wednesday, September 25, for a special, one-night-only book signing. Munro will be personally dedicating copies of “Catching the Light,” a just released, full-color, 208-page hardcover book documenting the artist’s work and career.
Catching the Light includes 210 stunning color images and descriptions of Munro’s work, including early installations of the breathtaking Field of Light that has enchanted viewers through the summer season at Cheekwood. The book chronicles Munro’s incredible work over nearly a decade, culminating with images of the LIGHT exhibition currently on display in Nashville.
Fans of LIGHT will find the book to be both a wonderful commemoration of their own visitor experience as well as an opportunity to delve further into Munro’s catalog of inspired works. The book discusses Munro’s passion for light, beauty and unity; in it, he describes the inspiration and meaning behind many of his illuminated large-scale installations and shimmering luminaires, chandeliers and sculptures.
“LIGHT has been an incredible gift to Nashville, and we are thrilled to welcome back Bruce Munro, the talented artist behind its creation, and invite our community to meet him person,” said Jane O. MacLeod, Cheekwood’s President & CEO. “While LIGHT will close at Cheekwood on November 10th, Bruce’s book, “Catching the Light” offers the opportunity for this extraordinary exhibition to live on beyond that time.”
Catching the Light features additional commentary on Munro’s work and life story from award-winning art critic and art historian Dr. Richard Cork. In addition, the book begins with a Foreword by Lord Rothschild, an important figure in the fields of art and philanthropy. It is printed on chlorine-free, acid-free paper.
Munro will be signing copies of Catching the Light on September 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Cheekwood. This event is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis; copies of the book will be available for sale that evening at the book signing.
