Full lineup of activities on Saturday, Aug. 15
NASHVILLE, Aug. 7, 2015—Get ready to take a bite out of science on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., as Adventure Science Center teams up with the Aquarium Restaurant to present the science behind the ocean’s most exciting (and terrifying!) creatures – sharks!
More information is available at www.adventuresci.org/sharks.
Shark Day Celebration activities (included with general admission):
· Touch Tanks - Get up close and personal with some sea creatures courtesy of the Aquarium Restaurant.
· Shark Myths - You get to play the part of a shark in this social experiment. Join in on the “test” for each shark myth and find out whether you’re part of the myth or the truth. Results will be revealed during the 2:30 p.m. Sci-Bites presentation and posted on Facebook and Twitter at the end of the day.
· Shark Adaptations - Discover how sharks have adapted to life under water and quickly became one of the ocean’s most infamous predators.
· Shark Scavenger Hunt - Can you find all the hidden sharks? Snag a worksheet and explore the Science Center to find clues to where the different species of sharks are hidden.
Program subject to change.
Just in time for Shark Day Celebration, the Sudekum Planetarium presents a special showing of Great White Shark at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Explore the great white shark's place in our imaginations, in our fears, and in its role at the top of the oceanic food chain. Marvel at the strength and beauty of these animals by looking through the eyes of those who have been touched by their shark encounters, including expert freedivers who tag great whites by simply holding their breath and swimming alongside the sharks. Tickets for the Great White Shark planetarium show are $6 for non-members and $3 for members.
Show sponsored by TVA.
