Nashville, TN – Summer of Art on 5th Avenue of the Arts celebrates the 7th Anniversary of First Saturday Art Crawl. A special Anniversary event will be held during First Saturday Art Crawl on August 3, 4PM to 9PM. One of the major monthly visual art events in downtown Nashville, First Saturday Art Crawl continues to offer more artistic experiences with more venues participating, including The Arts Company, Frist Center for the Visual Arts, The Rymer Gallery, Tennessee Art League, Tinney Contemporary, Art at the Arcade, Puckett’s Restaurant, among other major institutions. The new Streetscape between Church and Union has enhanced this visual arts destination featuring new aesthetic and technological improvements, illuminating the street’s visionary influence as it moves forward in the 21st Century.
First Saturday Art Crawl
First Saturday Art Crawl is the popular monthly art extravaganza featuring an alliance of diverse art venues in proximity on one block. Beginning Summer 2013, the event will offer even more artistic offerings, including visual, performance, and culinary. Admission free, First Saturday Art Crawl is a festive monthly visual arts event occurring on 5th Avenue of the Arts in the historic entertainment district of downtown Nashville. Presenting regional and world-renowned artists and artwork, gallery participants enjoy rare opportunities to meet and have conversations with the artists and to view diverse exhibitions featuring every genre of art. More than 20 art venues participate, including The Arts Company, The Rymer Gallery, Tennessee Art League, Tinney Contemporary, Art at the Arcade, & the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, among many more. First Saturday Art Crawl welcomes approximately 1,500+ attendees each month, bringing more attention and recognition to the established visual arts scene in Nashville, Tennessee.
About 5th Avenue of the Arts
5th Avenue of the Arts offers a diversity of artwork in galleries located on and around 5th Avenue in the heart of downtown Nashville. With Music City’s diverse genres of arts and entertainment opportunities within the city’s historic downtown entertainment district, the 5th Avenue corridor features over 20 art venues. Directly on 5th Avenue of the Arts are four anchor galleries - The Arts Company, The Rymer Gallery, Tennessee Art League, and Tinney Contemporary. Residents and visitors from around the world have come to know downtown Nashville as a flourishing urban destination, where people are invited to walk, linger, look, dine, shop, and visit a wide range of distinctive venues.
The transformation of the 5th Avenue of the Arts Streetscape is a welcomed update for 5th Avenue North, and it is being designated as a visual arts destination for downtown Nashville. The streetscape will feature 16 new 30-foot light poles with a one-of-a-kind light canopy stretching across the street, enhancing nightlife for this artistic district. The sidewalks have been expanded to accommodate sidewalk dining, and the direction of the street is being converted to 2-way traffic to allow for better traffic flow and easier accessibility to the art galleries and culinary venues. 5th Avenue of the Arts serves as a beacon for the business visitors at the new Music City Center, as well as Nashville residents.
