SONGS FOR CENTENNIAL PARK TO BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 6
THE CONSERVANCY FOR THE PARTHENON AND CENTENNIAL PARK PRESENTS THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF EVENTS CELEBRATING THE CENTENNIAL PARK REVITALIZATION
NASHVILLE, TN – (JANUARY 23, 2018) – The Conservancy for the Parthenon and Centennial Park, in partnership with Metro Parks, is working to restore, renovate and revitalize Nashville's central park.
Centennial Park is a Nashville treasure and The Conservancy is planning a series of “Songs for Centennial Park” fundraising events to celebrate our people’s park and raise funds to underwrite Phase Two improvements.
Phase One of the Centennial Park Revitalization was completed in 2015. It improved the water quality of Lake Watauga, introduced bees to help pollinate flowering trees and shrubs, unearthed long-buried Cockrill Spring, created rills for water activity, built a dedicated space for Musicians Corner, created a new parking area surrounding the Parthenon and installed fresh native landscaping.
Phase Two, which breaks ground this spring, will revitalize the Great Lawn, double the amount of walking, jogging and biking trails, construct a new outdoor pavilion for a wide variety of events and introduce a special lighting feature at the Parthenon to showcase the building with distinction.
“The enhancements envisioned by Phase Two will transform this cultural landmark into a vibrant, walkable, urban green space that will support and flourish alongside our city," said Sylvia Rapoport, Conservancy President.
The first “Songs for Centennial Park” event will take place on February 6 at City Winery. The concert will feature performances by Matthew Perryman Jones, Andrew Ripp, Carolina Story and Hush Kids. These celebrated local artists have generously donated their time and talent to support Centennial Park. Tickets are available at CityWinery.com.
All proceeds from “Songs for Centennial Park” will support the Centennial Park Capital Campaign and underwrite Phase Two renovations.
The Conservancy for the Parthenon and Centennial Park is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its mission is to preserve, enhance and share the Parthenon and Centennial Park so that all future generations may benefit from these enriching cultural and educational landmarks
