Chaffin’s Barn Presents Smoke on the Mountain, August 3 – 19!
Nashville, TN – Return to another era for the rollicking fun of Smoke on the Mountain, the acclaimed musical comedy playing August 3 – 19, at Chaffin’s Barn Theatre. With one performance already sold out and others filling fast, fans should make their reservations now, with online ticketing available at ChaffinsBarnTheatre.com.
Delighting audiences for nearly 30 years, Smoke on the Mountain has been hailed by The New York Times as “a charming and funny celebration of Americana,” while the Philadelphia Daily News cheered, “A sophisticated audience went simply wild.”
Smoke on the Mountain tells the story of a Saturday Night Gospel Sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains in 1938. The show features more than 20 bluegrass gospel songs played and sung by the Sanders Family, a traveling group making its return to performing after a five-year hiatus. Though they try to appear perfect in the eyes of a congregation who wants to be inspired by their songs, one thing after another goes awry, and they reveal their true – and hilariously imperfect – natures.
Smoke on the Mountain is being directed by Chaffin’s Barn Artistic Director and longtime Barn favorite Martha Wilkinson; Music Director is Jaclyn Brown.
Portraying members of the Sanders family, the cast includes Daron Bruce as Burl, Amanda Lamb as Vera, Scott Stewart as Stanley, Will Pope as Dennis, Jaclyn Brown as Denise, and Melissa Silengo as June, while Curtis LeMoine plays Pastor Mervin Oglethorpe.
In addition to the show, Chaffin’s Barn presents a delicious prime rib buffet, featuring selections to delight everyone from the carnivore to the vegan! Chaffin’s also offers an a la carte menu which includes several choices for all appetites and wallets. Small plates include hummus and veggies; Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches; Sliders; or a big, crispy, fresh house salad!
