PARTY FOWL TEAMS UP WITH WORKING DOGS FOR VETS
Starting on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11, Party Fowl is once again partnering with Working Dogs for Vets this holiday season to raise funds and collect supplies for the local charity that trains rescue dogs to become service animals for vets. Last year, the downtown Nashville restaurant successfully raised almost $4,000 for the nonprofit.
Guests can stop by Party Fowl to drop off items such as dog food, toys, service animal accessories, gift cards and more (the full list can be found here), or make a monetary donation to Working Dogs for Vets from November 11 through the end of December. Yazoo Brewing Company is also partnering with the restaurant to donate beer so that one dollar per beer sold can be donated to the organization.
HELPING VETS AND RESCUE DOGS
Working Dogs for Vets is a nonprofit based in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, whose mission is to provide trained service dogs to veterans in need, allowing the men and women returning to civilian life to live independently. The program matches vets with a rescued dog and helps them in training the animal to become a certified service dog. It provides necessities such as ID badges, certificates, information on A.D.A laws, training instructions and more. Service dogs can provide relief to individuals suffering from P.T.S.D, night terrors, anger, irritability, fear of crowds and other mental and physical disabilities. Founder Kenneth Knabenshue uses his expertise in K9 behavior and service dog training to help save lives on both ends of the leash.
“We are honored to partner with such a worthy cause for the second year,” says Party Fowl owner Austin Smith. “Working Dogs for Vets is a great organization that directly helps the men and women who have fought for our country, while also giving homeless animals a chance at a happy life. We are looking forward to raising even more than last year.”
Those who are interested in donating, but can’t make it to Party Fowl during the fundraiser, are encouraged to donate money or supplies through the organization’s website.
