From a musical perspective, Nashville is certainly known as a creative center. Those same artistic instincts extend to the visual and performing arts, as well. Long known as the "Athens of the South," for the emphasis placed on education and the fine arts, Nashville is home to a vibrant cultural scene. The prevalence of Greek Revival architecture found throughout the city also acts as a reminder of Nashville's kinship with the ancient Mediterranean city for which it is nicknamed.
