Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum
Travellers Rest is more than a historic home, our story is Nashville's story. Built by Judge John Overton in 1799, Travellers Rest is the oldest historic home in Nashville open to the public. Judge John Overton was close friends with Andrew Jackson and one of the founders of Memphis. Travellers Rest is the story of Frontier Nashville, the Civil War tragedy, and the story of General John Bell Hood's headquarters before the Battle of Nashville.
